Dream Impossible Things: Eras Tickets in Europe 2024

Hello, and welcome to my very first post on this blog, which I am creating to help Swifties to secure their tickets to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour in Europe in 2024.

Having secured my tickets in the original sale in July 2023, I am beyond excited to be attending the opening night of the European leg of the Eras Tour. However, not everyone was as lucky, so here is a guide to how you can still get your tickets if you have not already done so.

Paris (9-12 May 2024) and Lyon (2-3 June 2024)

View of Pont des Arts, featured in the Begin Again music video, from île de la Cité

Official Resale & Hospitality

Ticketmaster France has not yet activated transfers or enabled fan-to-fan resale. This is unlikely to change until the end of April 2024. Any resale will be available exclusively via Ticketmaster as it is the only authorised ticket seller. Resale tickets are capped to face value + 10%. Alternatively, hospitality tickets may still be available directly via La Defense Arena (Paris), Seat Unique (Paris), the Olympique Lyonnais website (Lyon) or Official-VIP.fr (Lyon, 3rd June).

Last-minute drops & Taygating

Other cities on the Eras Tour have had last-minute drops of tickets coming available even on the same day of the show, so keep an eye on your inbox, although this is possibly less likely for Paris due to the configuration of the La Défense Arena.

La Défense Arena is indoor and well-insulated, and the space outside is extremely limited, although the Groupama stadium may not pose similar problem. Given the horrific events which unfolded recently in Moscow, France is on high alert, as we are sadly not strangers to terrorism here, and concerts are no exception. Consequently, I would expect security to be tight, and you may not be permitted to gather outside if you do not have a ticket. Security and the police take their jobs extremely seriously here – I can attest to this as I was caught in teargas while walking along a street next to a large group of people dancing during Fête de la Musique last year. So, if security ask you to move on, I strongly caution you to do so.

Doubtless, the City of Lover will embrace the capitaylism boost, so I will add to this blog a list of bars and events to go to during the week, and will do the same for Lyon, which is also the capital of French gastronomy.

Lead Booker Event

This is a lead booker event, which means that the name on the ticket needs to match the name of the person attending the show, and that tickets will be subject to an ID check per the terms and conditions. Any ticket found or suspected to have been listed for resale via an unauthorised reseller is liable to be cancelled without notice. Furthermore, the resale of tickets for profit is illegal in France and has been since 12 March 2012, punishable by a fine of up to €15,000 for a first offence, or €30,000 for a repeat offence.

There is some debate as to whether this policy will be upheld, with some fans questioning whether they will be requested to show ID & the booking confirmation email.

Firstly, it is highly recommended to carry some form of ID with you whenever you are in the Schengen zone of Europe (all of the continental European shows are in Schengen) and it is a legal requirement in France to do so. I myself have been stopped and checked at random for ID in France, Italy and Sweden. Therefore, it is reasonable to expect to have this checked at a major event where the terms and conditions stipulate that tickets are lead booker – particularly if security is likely to be tight, as alluded to above.

Secondly, and perhaps more importantly for the French shows, the Eras Tour is the most high-profile event taking place in France before the Olympics. Aside from the cost and general upheaval to Parisians’ lives during the Olympics, two topics have been the source of controversy: security, and the sale (and illegal resale) of tickets. As a resident, I will actually be required to scan a QR code to access my apartment before and during the Olympics. It is frankly not a huge leap for me to expect to show my ID and my ticket to enter a concert hall, as it could potentially be a source of great embarrassment to France at a time when the world is watching.

Stockholm (17-19 May 2024)

This is Lund, not Stockholm, but I recommend if you want to stop on the way to Copenhagen

Official Resale & Hospitality

Resale is live and is available via the Swedish Ticketmaster website. For hospitality tickets, contact the arena directly (email: vip@stockholmlive.com).

Per the terms and conditions, the event is lead booker (as described above) and the lead booker may be asked for their ID. For hospitality tickets, contact the arena directly (email: vip@stockholmlive.com).

Last-minute drops & Taygating

As this is a stadium show, last-minute drops could happen once the stage has been set up and the amount of available space has been ascertained. If you did not make it off the waitlist for the sale last year, or if you received a code but couldn’t buy tickets in the original sale or subsequent drops, you may receive a code to buy tickets in the days leading up to the concert, as other lucky fans have enjoyed in various cities during this tour.

Friends Arena has a retractable roof which is usually closed during concerts, although this may not be the case for the Eras Tour. Be respectful of security and any notices by local police to the contrary, but otherwise expect a welcoming atmosphere in Sweden, which will be hot on the heels of having just hosted Eurovision the week prior (and hopefully celebrating Europapa’s win). I haven’t yet been to Stockholm, but I have visited Sweden as it’s very easy to get to from Denmark, where I have family. 10/10 recommend, but make sure you have your passport.

Lead Booker Event

Per the terms and conditions, the event is lead booker (as described above) and the lead booker may be asked for their ID. I’ve been asked for my ID before in Sweden at random, so I would generally have a photo of my ID with me at minimum. I’ve been asked for my ID before in Sweden, and they have tightened security, with no bags allowed at major events, including all events at the Friends Arena (presumably the VIP totes are fine), so make sure you have pockets!

Ticketmaster Sweden have also confirmed that tickets made available for resale via unofficial means will not be valid for entry.

Lisbon (24-25 May 2024)

Madeira, at a local concert – expect the crowds in Portugal to be electric!

Official Resale & Hospitality

Resale is live and it available via the See Tickets website. Hospitality tickets may be available directly from the stadium, although their official hospitality partner, Supreme Hospitality, has not made a public announcement (enquire here).

EDIT (15 April 2024): Fan to Fan is currently closed. If you have a ticket that you need to sell, you will need to contact SeeTickets directly for next steps. Transfer is not yet open.

Last-minute Drops & Taygating

If you are within easy reach of Lisbon, or intending to be, while the Eras Tour is there (perhaps to see Tate McRae on 22 May?), you may finally get off the waitlist for the show, or have another opportunity to buy tickets, in the days leading up to the shows. This depends heavily on if space is found once the stage has been set up, but keep an eye on your inboxes!

Taygating may be possible, security permitting. As with each city, I will update this blog with any Taylor-themed events happening around the Eras Tour.

Lead Booker Event

This is a lead booker event and the name on the ticket cannot be changed except by using See Tickets transfer. It is illegal to resell tickets above face value for events held in Portugal.

Per clause 2 of the general terms and conditions for See Tickets, “tickets you purchase are for personal use. Except as we may agree, you and your party must not re-sell or transfer (or seek to re-sell or transfer) the tickets in breach of the applicable terms. A breach of this condition will entitle SEE or the Promoter to cancel the tickets without prior notification, refund, compensation or liability.”

Madrid (29-30 May 2024)

I absolutely loved Madrid, and so will you, especially if you’re going to the Eras Tour!

Official Resale & Hospitality

Official resale is live and available via Ticketmaster Spain, for which they have produced a helpful guide. Hospitality may be available by contacting the stadium directly, although no announcement has been made.

Last Minute Drops & Taygating

As with the aforementioned cities, it is possible that last-minute tickets will be available in the days leading up to the concert, so make sure to keep an eye on your emails if you weren’t so lucky in the original sale!

Taygating may be possible outside the stadium, although be mindful of security. Madrid is famous for its nightlife, which may well only just be getting started as the concerts end, so definitely try to experience it if you can!

Lead Booker Event

This is a lead booker event. Per clause 11.3 of the purchase terms “11.3 You are not allowed to resell or assign your tickets if this is prohibited by law.”

According to the specific conditions for the Eras Tour:

On arrival at the venue, in order to validate the tickets, the ticket holder may be asked to present the following documentation, together with their tickets:

i) Photo ID (driver’s licence, passport, etc.).

ii) Email confirmation of purchase.

Edinburgh (6-8 June 2024), Liverpool (13-15 June 2024), Cardiff (18 June 2024), London (19-21 June & 15-20 August 2024) & Dublin (28-30 June 2024)

Hampstead Heath, of London Boy fame

Official Resale & Hospitality

Official resale is available only via AXS and Ticketmaster. Hospitality tickets for Liverpool and Cardiff have almost sold out, although feel free to check with the arenas if this changes, as they may have a waiting list policy. Edinburgh may have some hospitality tickets still available via Seat Unique and Engage Hospitality, although Murrayfield Stadium stated last year that hospitality had sold out. The Aviva stadium website states that no corporate hospitality partner has been announced as yet, so hospitality seating may or may not be available. Club Wembley has sold out, but Seat Unique, AOK Events and Engage Hospitality may still have some availability for the London shows along with other Club Wembley partners. According to Aviva Stadium, no hospitality partner has yet been identified.

Last Minute Drops & Taygating

Last-minute drops seem likely to happen for all of these shows once the stage is set up and final seating arrangements can be ascertained.

It will not possible to Taygate outside of Wembley due to security and sound insulation. However, Boxpark Wembley will be hosting a series of free themed Taylor Swift events for each of the London dates. Themed club nights have also been arranged in each city, which I will post on here before June. For Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and Dublin, you may be able to Taygate, although be mindful of security measures.

Lead Booker Event

Both Ticketmaster and AXS have stated that this is not a lead booker event. However, unofficial resale sites are not to be trusted. I have personally received confirmation of tickets which I have reported being cancelled and delisted. Furthermore, any unofficial resellers are required by law to provide seat numbers, which enables Ticketmaster and AXS to delist (invalidate) such listings. Meanwhile, reselling tickets for above face value via unauthorised means is a criminal offence in Ireland.

Anfield stadium, which hosts the Liverpool shows “tickets are not transferable and may not be offered for resale without the prior written permission of LFC and/or the Promoter or otherwise in accordance with the relevant ticket terms and conditions. Any tickets offered for sale may be confiscated.” Meanwhile, AXS states that “as set out in the terms and conditions of sale, any tickets found to be purchased via resale on the non-official secondary market will not be valid for entry into the concerts and will be cancelled.” Finally, Ticketmaster clearly states that “Your ticket(s) will immediately become invalid if resold or offered for sale unless the sale is through the official ticket agent fan to fan exchange. Tickets sold via third parties and other unauthorised outlets, including online auction sites, are not valid for admission. The resale of a ticket via unauthorized outlets renders it invalid and may lead to refusal of entry.

It is also worth noting that each stadium has a strict security policy, with Liverpool operating a strict no bags policy except for items purchased on-site and hygiene/medical products. All bags will be searched and entry may be delayed or even refused if you fail to comply with the stadium’s relevant policy, so make sure to familiarise yourself.

Amsterdam (4-6 July 2024)

Watch the sun go down on the boats in the water in Amsterdam

Official Resale & Hospitality

Resale is live and available on Ticketmaster Netherlands. Hospitality tickets have not been advertised for this event.

Last Minute Drops & Taygating

Last-minute drops may happen once the stage has been set up, so if you’re within easy reach of Amsterdam (thank you, Eurostar!), keep an eye on your emails in the days leading up to the event, as you may receive an access code!

Taygating is likely to be possible, and the nightlife in Amsterdam is renowned, so definitely make the most of it!

Lead Booker Event

This is a lead booker event, and the lead booker may be asked to show photo ID upon entry.

Per clause 7.d. of the Purchase Terms for Ticketmaster Netherlands, “the Tickets distributed by Ticketmaster will remain the property of the Organiser. The Buyer is not permitted to resell a Ticket if this is against the law. In addition, an Organiser can forbid any reselling or commercial use of a Ticket. The Buyer should check this in the general terms and conditions of the Organiser, which are referred to on the Ticket (and during the ordering process). In the case of any (attempt at) reselling or commercial use in violation of the law or the terms and conditions of the Organiser, the Organiser shall be entitled to invalidate the Ticket concerned and/or to impose a fine on the Buyer. Holders of invalid admission tickets will be barred from entering the Event, without any right to compensation.”

Zurich (9-10 July 2024)

This is actually Geneva

Official Resale & Hospitality

Official resale is available from fansale.ch and hospitality tickets may still be available from You Are Special Events AG from 695 CHF per person.

Last Minute Drops & Taygating

Last-minute drops could still be a possibility, so check your emails in the days preceding the concert.

Taygating may be possible outside the arena, especially as there is no roof. Be sure to look out for other events happening in the city when the Eras Tour arrives, and I will be updating this blog when I hear of any such events.

Lead Booker Event

Per Ticketcorner’s information specific to this event, “buyer personalisation applies to tickets for Taylor Swift events. This means that all tickets are personalised in the name of the purchaser. Only the purchaser named on the ticket (main purchaser) will be admitted to the concert. If a purchaser has purchased multiple tickets, companions will only be admitted to the concert together with the main purchaser.”

Milan (13-14 July 2024)

Milan has some real treasures, but make sure to explore its phenomenal surrounds

Official Resale & Hospitality

Official resale will be available on fansale.it starting on 29 June 2024. No hospitality partner has been announced as yet.

Last Minute Drops & Taygating

Official resale in the two weeks before may be enough for the fans still holding out for tickets, but just in case, there could well be a last-minute drop for tickets, so make sure to keep your eyes on your emails if you registered for a code last year and did not get tickets.

Taygating is likely to be possible outside the stadium, although, as always, pay attention to any security measures.

Lead Booker Event

Tickets are personalised and may only be re-personalised between 29 June and 10 July 2024. You must bring your ID with you to the show and it must match the name on the ticket. I’ve previously been stopped at random in Italy by police and asked for my ID, so definitely make sure you keep a copy of yours with you at all times! Additionally, it is illegal to resell tickets above face-value for commercial purposes in Italy.

Gelsenkirchen (17-19 July 2024), Hamburg (23-24 July 2024) & Munich (27-28 July 2024)

My favourite of the three German Eras Tour cities, Munich

Official Resale & Hospitality

Official resale is available at fansale.de and it will remain open until the shows start. Official hospitality for Gelsenkirchen and Hamburg have sold out, but it may be worth contacting the stadiums to see if there is a waitlist. There is no information freely available about hospitality in Munich, although there is an email address for FKP Scorpio Konzertproduktionen GmbH, the organiser, listed on the Munich Olympicstadion site.

Last Minute Drops & Taygating

Last-minute drops are possible, so look out for codes in your inbox if you signed up last year and didn’t get tickets.

Taygating may be possible for each of the arenas given the space surrounding them, but again make sure to familiarise yourself with any security measures.

Lead Booker Event

Tickets are personalised and may currently be re-personalised via Fansale. There will be an ID check as the tickets are personalised. Per the special conditions, it is possible to re-personalise the ticket via Fansale.de uniquely.

Selling a ticket for more than 25% above face value is a breach of contract and could result in a ticket being invalidated.

Warsaw (1-3 August 2024)

A view of Warsaw – PGE Narodowy can be seen on the right

Official Resale & Hospitality

Official resale is not open yet and it will be available only via ebilet, which is also the distributor for hospitality tickets.

Last Minute Drops & Taygating

Last-minute drops are almost certain, as there are still hundreds of seats available in the arena, likely due to the extremely tough anti-scalping laws allowing ebilet to relist invalidated tickets.

Taygating is also possible, though you may not need it!

Lead Booker Event

Warsaw has by far and away the strictest lead booker policy of all, which shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the maximum penalty for scalping tickets is 2 years imprisonment in Poland.

Tickets are personalised and attendees are subject to an ID check. It is only possible to transfer tickets by emailing the organisers no less than 2 weeks before the show, and you must pay to transfer the ticket to someone else.

Vienna (8-10 August 2024)

The Day I saw the Spanische Hofreitschule for the first time Was a Fairytale

Official Resale & Hospitality

Resale is live and available at fansale.at from now until the shows begin. Information about hospitality has not been released, but official hospitality tickets for events at the stadium are usually available via oefb.

Last-minute Drops & Taygating

Last-minute drops are possible, so pay attention for a code if you were unsuccessful with registration last year.

Taygating is also a possibility in Vienna, and the nightlife in Vienna is simply enchanting – you will be wonderstruck!

Lead Booker Event

Tickets are personalised and must be in your name, with an ID check imposed. They may only be re-personalised via eventim.at.

Final Thoughts for Getting Tickets

  1. Respect the law and culture of the country you are going to – the most important point I can make to you here. The fact of something being normal for you does not make it the norm elsewhere and yes, you are being the worst kind of tourist if you go to a country with the explicit intention of breaking the law which is there to protect the local population’s interests – and this is why we can’t have nice things.
  2. Keep an eye on your emails – you may just make it off the waitlist and all the pieces may fall right into place!
  3. Check the resale sites regularly, as tickets are listed infrequently and are snapped up within seconds, but especially in the last fortnight before the concert, as this is when your wildest dreams are most likely to come true.
  4. Grab your passport and my hand – if you’re in Western Europe in particular, you know how easy it is to hop on a flight or a train (or a Flixbus) when you’re on a mission, so be ready to fly.
  5. (Should’ve said no) to buying from unauthorised resellers – not only is it illegal, subject to being cancelled (although you will be eligible for a refund if your ticket isn’t valid and provide proof of refused entry), and encouraging scalpers to exploit fans, the prices are also extortionate, especially right now.
  6. [The Official Ticket providers] got the envelope, where you think they got it from? If someone tries to scalp you tickets, you can very easily screenshot the evidence if you’re on your vigilante sh*t again, which is likely to result in the scalper’s tickets being cancelled.
  7. Check with the stadiums and their official hospitality partners whether there are any hospitality (may be referred to as VIP) tickets left so that you can swim in a champagne sea.
  8. You’re probably going somewhere the culture’s clever, so make time to capture it and remember it. Yes, the Eras Tour is incredible, but so is seeing the flashing lights on the Tower at midnight, watching the city lights on the water, and the many castles (crumbling or otherwise) dotting Europe.
  9. Stay safe and sound – aside from the bear attacks that you must survive in order to get tickets, you should also make sure you know how to get safely to and from the concert and there may be areas which are best avoided if you’re coming back alone late at night. Try joining groups like Host a Sister if you’re worried, or if you want to meet other Swifties in the same city.
  10. The Eras Tour is an incredible experience, but it is not worth going into debt over. We’ve seen how much Taylor is enjoying touring and making music: if you’ve got bills to pay and nothing figured out as to how to do it, don’t go into debt for a concert as you will have the chance to see Taylor again ❤
  11. Taygating is very depending on the city you’re going to – it is not possible in Paris or London due to sound and security issues, and security is sadly likely to be tighter than previously thought due to the recent events in Moscow, which give me flashbacks to both Manchester and Paris. Please be understanding if you’re asked to move on.
  12. If you don’t get tickets but will be in the city at the same time as the Eras Tour, make the friendship bracelets, take the moment and taste it at some of the organised events in the area. So much of the joy that comes from this tour will come from being around other fans who appreciate something that you hold dear, so definitely keep an eye out for what’s on in your city.
  13. Finally, keep your eyes open, as I will update this blog as shows approach and new information is available. I will also add guides for each city as the tour dates approach.
